This month in digital music libraries - July 2024
July 26, 2024 in digital music by Dan Gravell
This July we’ve been reading articles about ice cream trucks, a review of Pitchfork reviews, and using some juicy free online audio tools and listening analysis services!
Useful services
Some free online services now…
This one is for users of Last.fm and Spotify. It provides different visualisations of your listening history. I quite like how it’s niched and focused enough to concentrate only on analysing your listening history. There’s an app for Apple devices, but there’s also a Web version:

Meanwhile, Audioalter offers a bunch of free online audio editing tools:

Reviewing the reviews
How has Pitchfork’s reviews changed in the last twenty five years (or so)?
Getting a bit #postmodern I suppose but... https://t.co/DN4zVInuic pic.twitter.com/OzIsawkQSn

Ice cream trucks. Yes, ice cream trucks
Summer is here in the Northern Hemisphere and that means ice cream trucks! Perhaps the most distinctive thing about them is their music, and it turns out that the market for providing this music is dominated by a two person company. (This is an article from 2020).
Maybe this is a good use for all that algorithmically generated muzak on @Spotify... https://t.co/eESkIte8ba pic.twitter.com/GjQYjsRkUm
